Chinese-branded fashion
I have to agree that Chinese-branded fashion is something that will take time to evolve in western markets. Everyone knows many of the clothes they wear are made in China, but they are usually branded according to local market tastes. Our challenge is to change perception through Content Strategy. If I asked you where these pictures were taken, our cognitive bias might want to think New York, Japan, London…but no this is Shanghai, one of the most sophisticated cities on the planet.
Actually, I love this discussion because I think the timing for the Shenshi case study is perfect. It is China’s moment to take the stage, not just as a source of low-cost manufacturing, but to infuse the world of fashion with its enormous cultural pedigree. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
