Shenshi really is similar to Zara

I looked again at Zara and although Shenshi is targeting only men, Zara looks like the closest real-world match for Shenshi in terms of the claimed short lead-times for new design to hit stores. Very good observation. Between the Spanish and the Swedes, they have fast fashion sewn up. Makes me wonder whether Mr Wang should consider partnering with Inditex instead of competing. He could leverage their marketing resources and multi-cultural know-how to launch in key markets where inditex already has a presence. It would be difficult to compete at Zara’s level — they only need two weeks for NPD — that’s why I’ve chosen a business angle, gaining inspiration from when I worked in Singapore and could get a custom suit for a fraction of the cost of a brand name. I think there may be an untapped space for providing the professional wardrobe of young aspiring businessmen who are on a fast-track to executive level but can’t afford executive prices at this time.
What an interesting and thoroughly enjoyable challenge this has been.
