Still waiting for drag n drop...

I think I’ve finally found the best theme template that was available for free. Some of the others I liked clipped some images, so it was a bit frustrating going back and forth customizing.
One big question I’ve asked myself for several years now is “why are we still dabbling around in code for website design?”. I mean, it seems so archaic given how far the web has come. I know there are 100,000’s of people who make a living from coding web sites, but in this age of “Watson”, you’d think we might have progressed a little from the backslash and curly bracket to something a bit more…well…drag-n-drop.
I know there are sites with drag-n-drop like weebly, squarespace, etc., but I imagined in my tiny mind that the mechanics of web presentation might’ve been standardized by now on something wholly graphical. Hats off to David Karp who tries to make things easier with Tumblr and also to Facebook who offer a way to “live” your virtual life entirely inside its domain if you so choose.
I’ve dabbled in basic C# and JavaScript, but it doesn’t really evoke passion within me. It’s not visual enough to engage me. My brother is a coder and I often ask him when are we going to have really high level visual programming so a dumbo like me can use it to design something cool and let it figure out all the underlying code. Then the Hangout line goes dead…
