Tsingtao and other pronunciations

 I agree the US scenario is challenging. Sometimes, though words are deliberately changed to sound foreign and difficult to pronounce and build their own momentum through social discussion over how to correctly pronounce, e.g. Haagen Dazs. Another example of a difficult-to-pronouce Chinese product is Tsingtao Beer. How many people have you heard ask for a “Ching-Dow” ? Yet it becomes part of the brand “mystique”. I still get blank looks when ordering it :)

I can imagine for Shenshi, it could be a fun marketing ploy to create a marketing campaign around. Those “hipsters” in the know will love to tell others that “it’s not Shenshee, its Shensoo”.
