What is the purpose of MOOCs?
How did you perceive that question?
Did you think I was going to say negative things about MOOCs, or something positive?
We all know what a MOOC is, but what’s it’s purpose?
All comments from people are valuable, and many comments suggest MOOCs are too basic, lectures are too short, they just skim the surface.
Are MOOCs planting a seed? Is it then up to us to water that seed, to nurture it so that its roots dig a firm foundation and its branches reach up and out?
There is almost no limit to what we can self-learn today, but I think we’re ‘spoiled for choice’. In other words, there’s so much to learn that we don’t know where to begin.
Let MOOCs provide the beginnings of our journeys.
They are stimulating ways of engaging us and growing enough enthusiasm to continue our pursuit for knowledge.
