Content Startegy: Journalism vs Marketing (Is there a difference?)
Brilliant example you provided.
I’m from a tech background, so I relate more to gadgets, as in the example below.
It makes sense to me that a journalist would write a balanced article, one that points out the pluses and minuses to be as truthful as possible, as summarized in this condensed precis from Engadget:
"The Venue 8 Pro offers good value for a $300 device, but we suggest you wait for Dell to issue some bug fixes — and for more competing tablets to start shipping"
A Marketer wouldn’t really want to highlight the weaknesses… :-) as in this example from (no surprises) Dell:
”Take the full functionality of Windows 8.1 with you wherever you go. Whether you’re on the road or on vacation, Dell Venue 8 Pro gives you complete access to Office Home & Student 2013.”
My interpretation is that if the media giants are aligned with a certain political slant, the trust is questionable and what potentially remains is filtered content to further an agenda.
