"A-ha" moment: The difference between CS and CM

That’s brilliant Clayton! It’s going straight into my collection of forum gems. I think short, succinct metaphors are great for memory recall. You are very much on the rocker and really rockin’ Clayton. Thanks.
Many students are expressing interesting views based on their experience, readings from industry authorities, or whatever their preconceptions were coming into the course.
To my mind, the Content Strategy is first and foremost a strategy. By definition that implies it is “t
he art or skill of using stratagems in endeavors such as business or politics”. A 3-5 year plan of how content should be appropriately messaged, governed, reused, aligned with corporate voice, and when it is no longer applicable and should be retired, makes sense to me.
Personally I have enjoyed debating the subject. At times, some discussions within various threads have become heated—demonstrating the passion for this topic. When we have completed the course and case study, we will have a much more complete understanding of Prof. Lavine’s definition of Content Strategy and we can combine with additional research plus experiences to apply the learnings to our various situations.
